About the motive

The boat type was taken to Sweden by fishermen and began to be manufactured at Orust. It is now spread over most of the country. The woman in the picture is rowing her Doris.
The picture belongs to our popular series of motifs from the Swedish coast.

I photographed the model for the motif about 25 years ago. The person in the picture rowed out in his boat every summer day to swim on an island in the sea belt. She was a skilled rower.
