Asta was built at Ringen's shipyard in Marstrand Sweden in 1916 and was taken out of operation in 1981. She was then taken over by the non-profit association Tôllar ô Seiel, which has since run and managed this heritage from a bygone era.
Asta is a cultural monument since 1997 and turned into a museum ship.
